<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">: Grrr I hate it when you write out a big post and hit submit and get that 'server busy' message and lose the whole thing <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:<br><br>
Anyway.....<br><br>
Five years ago when I was making my decision to have my 3rd baby at home I lent my Mom the book <i>Gentle Birth Choices</i> by Barbra Harper to help her understand my decision to homebirth. I was a little <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">: that I never got the book back and I didn't know if she had taken the time to read it.<br><br>
However, my Mom was supportive of my decision. See, she was somewhat of a pioneer herself. Dr. Dick Bradley of THE Bradley method was her OB in the early 60's when she had my sister and brother. She had to fight off the other nurses (yes, she was a nurse) as well as her family and friends when she explained she did NOT want twilight and wanted to be awake and aware of her birthing experience <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> Of course they thought she was <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">:<br><br>
So, I'm chatting with my Mom on the phone the other day and she tells me one of her co-workers (at the hospital) is very upset that her daughter is considering a homebirth for baby #3 or 4. My Mom brought her co-worker the book and suggested reading it would her her understand her daughters choices. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up"> She spouted the 'evils' of modern OB/hospital care and told her that she was very glad I had made the decision to have my babies at home<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"><br><br>
My Mom - the homebirth activist!!!<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbsup"><br><br>
Mom lives in another state but we have plans for her to come in 2 days after my 'due' date and stay for 12 days. We are boh hoping she is here for the birth, it will be the first time <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/praying.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="praying">:<br><br>
