We're having good luck with the Gerber waffle knit pants with the Gerber waterproof trainers or the Dappi early trainers over. Keeps the mess in, but DS knows right away that he needs changed. I plan to step down to just the nylon ones and then to just the waffle knit or underpants when out and about. Ds is un underpants or running naked around the house (he slept in underpants last night and woke up dry!)

The best part is that you can pick them up at Target, evilmart, TRU/BRU, thrift stores, yardsales, resale shops, etc cheaply and without shipping charges.

Good luck!

We use the Gerber ones too. They absorb a little so the pee doesn't run straight down their legs and make a puddle, but their clothes get wet. I like the Bummis trainers for waterproof ones.

I've bought 4 Kushies pull-on trainers from Kelly's Closet.
They are $7.95 each w/free shipping.
They come in girl/boy/neutral prints or solid white.

Here's a link:

http://www.kellyscloset.com/store.htm

I use mostly gerber trainers too. I also have a couple pair of something called Early Trainers that dh's Granny picked up for us at a thrift store. They are not very thick but covered in vinyl so they will not leak. I think an up and coming WAHM would have a great market for an affordable training pant!

I tried Kushies and they were great but I think to dd they felt too much like a diaper. I did fitteds without covers and that worked better. They got wet but no dripping. Those were good for around the house but when out I put a cover on them.

What worked best was nothing for awhile. Now that she's getting it and pretty much trained (a few accidents but no more diapers), I put regular undies on her at home and Gerbers on her when out. Sometimes she'll wet a spot before we find a bathroom, so the Gerbers come in handy that way. They absorb enough that no big gushes but yeah, the clothes get wet. Which for my dd is a good thing-- it motivates her to stay dry.
