As part of my (very) gradual switch to traditional foods, I've been trying to remove all food additives from my family's diet. Naturally one of the things I have been avoiding is MSG.
I used to buy canned chicken broth for making stir fries--but canned broth always contains MSG, so I don't buy it anymore. This week as I didn't have a chicken carcass to make broth I bought a carton of organic chicken broth. After I got home I noticed "yeast extract" on the ingredient list.
I looked it up on Wikipedia and it said that yeast extract is used in the same way as MSG. Is it safe?
