Yeast Infections-- TMI Warning

OK. Once again applying for help from you experienced mamas. Does pregnancy make us *more* susceptable to yeast infections? I think I have one right now and it is NOT FUN. Especially b/c I've been spotting a tiny bit and every time I feel moisture or stickyness, I panic and think, "bleeding!" but no, it's not.

Would a yeast infection make spotting more likely?

Can I treat like I usually would, either with OTC treatment or home remedy?

Does pregnancy make us *more* susceptable to yeast infections? yes...our hormones are more yeast-friendly i've been told.

Would a yeast infection make spotting more likely?
that i don't know.

Can I treat like I usually would, either with OTC treatment or home remedy?
that's what i do, although i found otc treatments to not work well... try
this... it's expensive but works so well (and there are more than one treatment in it)
In the beginning of my second trimester, I got a nasty yeast infection that would not go away no matter what I did. I took acidophilus and did the garlic clove vaginally for a few days with worstening results. I ended up using Canesten and it finally went away. If you go OTC, go for the 6 or 7 day treatment, as the 1 or 3 day treatment isn't strong enough.

I'd also recommend going to your mw or OB for a culture, just in case it's a bacterial infection and not a yeast infection... My OB likes to tell me that 70% of what people think are yeast infections, really aren't.

And yep, our ph changes while pregnant, and so we are more prone to YI. But it shouldn't be related to spotting though...
Check with a provider before starting a YI treatment, but it should be okay.
i thought boric acid was a no-no during pregnancy...?

on the Yeast-Arrest site above it says this:

Quote:
Avoid use of this product during pregnancy
i had a TERRIBLE yeast infection and after several days of homeopathics (which made it WORSE, ugh) i finally broke down and bought the monistat 7 (on midwife's recommendation).

i tried acidophilus and other remedies, but the m 7 finally cleared it up. now i'm off refined sugar so i don't get more...
Thanks for advice, guys. I think I'm going to try my garlic-and-yogurt for now, and if that doesn't do anything go with a seven-day OTC. With everything else going on, being itchy is just too much!
I only get yeast infections during pregnancy. I'm just now getting over one (i used yogurt to treat it).

I used boric acid twice during my pg with dd (both YI were because of antibiotics... bleh - one was UTI and the other was a kidney infection so they were necessary abx
) and she's just fine
It worked like a charm too
Just stick a capsule up there at night and again in the morning. It took two days for all the symptoms to go away and then I did it one extra night to be sure.

love and peace.
