well, i had my first prenatal exam yesterday. if anyone remembers, i was originally planning on going unassisted through pregnancy and then having a midwife-assisted birth but finances got in the way so i'm having a birth center birth with either an OB or CNM. anyway, we had an ultrasound and the baby is measuring perfectly. IT'S A GIRL. i was secretly hoping for a girl because this is my last baby and i wanted a boy and a girl. i know, i know. terrible of me but i can't help but be excited!

the only bad news is that i've got partial placenta previa [marginal, really, from what i can see] so that placenta needs to move out of the way so i can have a successful VBAC! from what i hear, during pregnancy it's VERY common for the placenta to move so hopefully it goes upward and not down over the cervix completely.

i'm still a bit apprehensive about receiving medical care since i really don't believe in medicalized birth but i'm just happy to know my wee one is growing strong. i'm lucky to have such VBAC friendly providers around here, too.

Congratulations, Mamabee! I am a little envious here in the best way I can be
I know I'll be pleased either way but a little girl is really a secret desire of mine.
And yes...it is very common for that placenta to start low and move UP
