Can you recommend your favorite yoga DVDs? I would love to practice yoga, but don't have a studio nearby. Thank you so much!

I'm a total novice, but I like the <a href="http://www.gaiam.com/category/yoga-studio/yoga-instructors/rodney-yee.do" target="_blank">"Living Arts" DVDs from Gaiam</a>, particularly Rodney Yee. This is just my experience - I've only ever taken one yoga series - but I like them.

I practiced yoga exclusively at home for a year and here are some of the one's I use:<br><br><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=motheringhud-20&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FCrunch-Perfect-Yoga-Workout-Fat-Burning%2Fdp%2FB00005NQGR%2Fref%3Dsr_1_1%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Ddvd%26qid%3D1274264124%26sr%3D8-1" target="_blank">Crunch: The Perfect Yoga Workout</a> (this is the one I started out with and it laid a good foundation).<br><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=motheringhud-20&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%2Fref%3Dnb_sb_noss%3Furl%3Dsearch-alias%253Ddvd%26field-keywords%3DLiving%2BRoom%2Byoga%26x%3D0%26y%3D0" target="_blank">Living Room Yoga</a>: Strengthen and Lengthen and Twist and Bend. MTV Yoga (which I don't like very much but I keep just for variety.<br><br>
To figure out if I wanted to buy a yoga DVD, I would borrow them first from the library. I'd do it about twice and if I liked it, then I'd buy it.

I would recommend Shiva Rea. A good yoga teacher matters and I found her the best. <a href="http://www.shivarea.com/dvds-cds-shivashakti.php" target="_blank">http://www.shivarea.com/dvds-cds-shivashakti.php</a>

I really like the Shiva Rea videos, too. It would be so awesome to take a live class with her (I aspire to do this someday soon <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">)<br><br>
I'm eager to try this: <a href="http://www.yogaglo.com/" target="_blank">http://www.yogaglo.com/</a> The site looks extremely well organized and great quality.<br><br>
Also, Seane Corn is great with her attention to form. <a href="http://video.seanecorn.com/" target="_blank">http://video.seanecorn.com/</a>

I have really enjoyed Shiva Rea too. She is an excellent teacher - especially for women. I thoroughly enjoy Baron Baptiste. His Yoga Journal Live video is great for someone just starting and goes through foundational principles.<br>
I think Rodney Yee is good for beginners as well.<br>
Another video that has been great for me is Maya Fiennes - Detox and Destress. It is a beautiful practice very appropriate for beginners.<br>
I want to try a Seane Corn DVD next.

I take back my recommendation for the Shiva Rea for a beginner. She's great for a pregnant beginner in her prenatal DVD, but the new DVD series she has out is kicking my butt. I've been practicing yoga on an day to day basis for over a year now, and off and on for 10 years. By the end of the Sun Salutations DVD I cannot relax in Shavasana because my arms are spasing. Yikes! I'm not enjoying that. Baron Baptiste is great for beginners and all levels.
