when they're looking like they see a ghost in my son's diaper area?<br><br>
What's up with that? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> I'm not sure if people think my diaper is weird (because it's cloth) or if it's because my ds is intact (I mean c'mon people, being intact is IN) . or maybe both. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> but anyway... it's like it shocks them for a minute, then they continue talking to me but they can't take their eyes out of his.. you know.. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/mischievous.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="mischief"><br><br>
Maybe it's weird that I spray wipe solution on his butt, wipe it, put everything in a wetbag and then put another one of these "huge cloth pieces" on him? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up">

Ya know, I never get it where I live. I do change my son standing up even. Maybe it is because it is more the norm here... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shrug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shrug"> No one even looks twice at what I do and what he is wearing.<br><br>
I <b>always</b> get comments when visiting my mom and dad in the midwest though.

I get this too! Had not thought of it being due to the intact nature of our perfect little body. Hmmm.....<br>
I hear you on the putting everything in a bag and putting another cloth on. Like it is normal to wrap up a chemical wrap in a plastic grocery bag tie it tight and pop it into a plastic lined garbage pail! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">

I know I've gotten looks before, especially because it does take a little longer to put the fitted then the cover on and then get him dressed. If there is only one changing table I get the "hurry up" look. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br>
I have had people blatenly ask me "He's not circumsized?" Like it's any of their business and I should come up with something clever to say but it always catches me off guard.

Yep, it's probably the cloth, intactness, and wipe solution that make you a freak. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> Maybe you can try bfing him as you change him and get even more weird looks!<br><br>
I always say that when people look at you like you're a freak because of your natural parenting practices, just do even more freaky AP things and really get them talking. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><br><br>
I wish people would look at me like I was a freak, but they don't seem to notice, even when I make a big deal about pinning and everything. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad">

How about answering, "No. Neither am I. Are you?" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/mischievous.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="mischief"><br><br>
I love when virtual strangers ask ignorant, rude questions. Because then I can use my well-honed sarcasm mixed with blank, innocent expression and really get under their skin.<br><br>
My three favorites are:<br><br>
"Why would you do that?" (in regards to my boys being left whole)<br><br>
"Aren't you worried they're missing stuff?" (in regards to homeschooling)<br><br>
"How can you not believe in God?" (self explanatory) :LOL

My favourite is when "the look" is accompanied with such intelligent remarks as" OHMYGOD I can't BELIEVE you are using those, ewww how gross, give me Pampers anyday, yeah yeah I know about the landfills but Ewww gross!" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/eyesroll.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="roll"><br><br>
This was the response I got at work. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/eyesroll.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="roll"> Seriously, I can't roll my eyes hard enough to express how I felt.

My favorite is the one where they tell me I'm doing just as much harm by washing my diapers as they are buy buying these disgusting smelly chemical laden goo-pockets that will exist in the landfill forever and a day. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:<br><br>
I DARE someone to ask why my son is uncirc... the thought is barbaric. Maybe you should ask if they'd like to have the end of thier clitoris cut off. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/mischievous.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="mischief">

We get those looks too sometimes. Usually it turns more into curiosity, especially with other mamas, but it's the grandmas that are the funniest - "dontcha know they have those new fangled diapers now that you can throw away?"<br><br>
LOL - like I've been locked in a closet for the past, well, my whole life! :LOL<br><br>
I haven't ever had anyone tell me it's gross (except my parents, and they've gotten used to it) or comment on ds being intact though.

Because we mostly use fitteds with wool or AIO/WIOs people more look amazed and impressed. I don't tend to get the ghost look. In fact the older someone is- the more impressed they are. Mostly they say something like, "Wow cloth is back in style? I guess everything comes back." or "I wish diapers had been that nice when my kids were in diapers."<br><br>
Younger people tend to say that they just couldn't keep up with the laundry, wouldn't have time, etc... I think, "well gee, its not like I have to hand wash them." :LOL

I don't get any looks. If anything, I get more people commenting on how cute the diaper is... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

OMG these are good! You know, it's amazing how so many moms are stranged with a NORMAL body. *I* am stranged when I see a circ'ed penis, I immediately go "OUCH, THAT MUCH HAVE HURT" in my head <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"><br><br>
I know if an ignorant person ever, actually, vocally SAYS anything to me, I'd be "ofcourse not, I don't do that to my children" or "what? cut his penis off when he's a day old?" or also use the little, you know, unknown excuse that 80% OF THE WORLD is uncircumcised, and that's how ALL babies should be allowed to be. That should do it <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

always have a couple good comebacks in the back of your head, like..<br><br>
"yeah, we don't believe in genital mutilation"<br><br>
or..<br><br>
"yeah, I asked my ds when he was born if he wanted to have it cut off and surprisingly enough, he said NO" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/yikes.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="EEK!">

I don't really get the weird looks too much - sometimes I get a curious look like "Oh wow, that's cloth - never saw one of those before" but it's not really a nasty look.<br><br>
My SIL is notarious for giving me grief regarding the NFL stuff I do - she likes to say she "doesn't give a crap about the environment" when I bring something up <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/eyesroll.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="roll"> At least she's honest I guess. But the funny thing is when it comes to the cloth diapers she's the only relative I have that thinks they are really cool! I think she likes the cute factor. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><br><br>
