You know those stories about..."you know you are a home schooler when....?" LOL

Anyway...I have one for today. Add your own too, I love these.

My husband found a bowl of water on the counter he picked it up and asked if he could dump it, or was there secret stuff in there? LOL..we sound like a secret agency developing spy tools or something. We concluded it was just water in the bowl, put there so that the boys could float their miniboats in it.

...there is a stalactite growing on the top of your microwave and you've spent more on used books this year than you did on Christmas presents.

... you announce to the kids that you have to run a few errands, and immediately, they pipe up, "Yay! Field Trip!"

...you have over 200 books out from the library.

...you get a personal email from said library telling you that they had to put your requested books (26 items) in a special box off to the side because otherwise there isn't enough room for everyone else's stuff, even though you were just in there three days earlier picking up another stack.

...you have to tell your almost 8 year old several times in a row, every single night "enough with the books, it's time for a bath".

.......when your home library has more educational material than leisure reading in it.

.......when you look at a game or tv show and can instantly find the educational value of it (including Hannah Montana, Jonas, and Phineas and Ferb lol)

.......when your DVR is filled with episodes of Myth Busters, specials from the history channel and discovery channel network stations, and cartoons and kid shows from the Spanish channels.

.......when you go back to college and instantly choose an online program instead of going to the college that is ONE BLOCK from your home because it just isn't convenient to take your kids to a college classroom and not financially smart to get a sitter.

Today, I had to tell DH that the plate with the blue water on it actually does have secret stuff in it so he cannot dump that, LOL.

DD got it from an episode of Curious George. Take a pizza box, line the inside with aluminum foil, and cut a door in the top, leaving the flap attached. Use that flap to direct the sun down into the oven. Voila!

DD is going to love that! Conveniently, tomorrow is pizza and a movie with grandpa night, so we'll have a couple pizza boxes handy too. Hmmm... how hot will it get? What can we bake in it?

I have many of those, like curriculum under the tree and the DVR. Have you checked out Kari Byron's Head Rush? I keep meaning to Tivo it and forgetting.

How about "You have no plans for next week when schools are out because you've already seen all the holiday displays and events while they were not crowded." Seriously, our last "event" is Friday evening, and meanwhile all the schooled families are talking about seeing this tree display and that museum exhibit etc. next week and we've already done them. Next week we plan to stay home, have playdates with schooled friends, bake, and make ornaments.

.............when your dd gets to audition for a part at a local professional theater. While there, the form states that rehearsals will be during the day and to list conficts you might have in April/May. The child next to us was pleading with her mom to let her miss six weeks of school. Anna just shrugged and said "thank goodness I homeschool!"

I love this one too, especially since my dd is very much interested in acting and theater! She's going to start an acting class in January, and if she likes it, who knows where it might lead!
