Your children start playing "UPS guy" complete with hat and clipboard.

You're running out of shelves, and your oldest child is only 6.

Your 3 year old can identify the Amazon.com logo.

That is ME when my oldest was six!

I was such a curriculum junkie and I thought I'd never change. In some ways I haven't, considering everything we brought home from the library fundraiser sale and how excited I was to find a copy of Harold Jacobs' Algebra for $1 after giving up on ever being able to afford it.

Don't forget about thrift stores, borrowing books from the public library, and free internet resources in all of your excitement, though. My greatest regret about my curriculum junkie days wasn't the money I spent but the way my ego could get involved when something I'd saved up for and longed for just didn't make my kiddo's boat float.

Feel free to remind me to reread my own words if ds prefers a thrift store special to Jacobs later on in the coming year.

hehehe

we are going to a completely literature based sirriculum. for 4 years I have held back and not spent much by way of school stuff. once we decided to do this i think i heard a little voice in my head that said "Realease the hounds!" and of course amazon and barnes and noble ship stuff one or two books at a time. So the UPS man has been at our house every day. its like Christmas!
