Your 9 month old

I'm going to be going to teacher's college this fall, which will mean that my DS will be going into daycare at 9 months old.

Had a few Qs about a typical 9 month old....

-How often do they breast feed?
-Can i get away with feeding in the morning and night, and just pumping him a bottle during the day?....how many oz.s do they drink if they're eating food too (like for lunch say?)
-How many different foods are they eating?
-Do they have seperation anxiety/are they shy with strangers? or does that come later...or has it came and past? Right now he has smiles for everyone and is very content with other ppl (for the most part).
-Do they have a security item?? if they do....is that a good thing? and how did you choose what it would be....or did your DC choose it naturally?
-Do they nap? (my guy's not a big napper- he'll have maybe 2 or 3 a week and needs to nurse himself to sleep)

eeeek, kinda sad about all this, I hope hope hope he adapts well to this, there are some kids that thrive in daycare and some who it just doesn't work for. I hope he's the former!

I don't know if we are typical, but this is what my DS at 9m is doing:

-How often do they breast feed?
4-5x/day

-Can i get away with feeding in the morning and night, and just pumping him a bottle during the day?
I would say my DS would want a drink after morning nap and before afternoon nap.

....how many oz.s do they drink if they're eating food too (like for lunch say?)
I believe they should have 16-24 oz milk once eating alot of solids, I read that somewhere (don't know where)

-How many different foods are they eating?
I give him anything we eat, cut up or ground up, other than fish, shellfish, eggs and nuts.

-Do they have seperation anxiety/are they shy with strangers? or does that come later...or has it came and past? Right now he has smiles for everyone and is very content with other ppl (for the most part).
My DS acted shy when we travelled at 8 months, he will occasionally act shy to unknown men, but with women he is usually just fine. But I think he is slightly abnormal that way.

-Do they have a security item?? if they do....is that a good thing? and how did you choose what it would be....or did your DC choose it naturally?
DS doesn't have one yet, heard that comes on about 1 yr.

-Do they nap? (my guy's not a big napper- he'll have maybe 2 or 3 a week and needs to nurse himself to sleep)
DS naps in am about 2 hr after breakfast, then in afternoon around 2pm, goest to bed between 8-9pm

My DS is going to daycare at 12 months, I go back to work full time as a resident physician, working 85 hrs a week. I have several collegues who have left their DC in daycare earlier, and it is much harder on the parent than it is the child (or so it seems)!!

Good luck and take care of you and your own.
