Your favorite, good tasting, Corn free candies

I am looking for brand name suggestions for corn free candy for the holidays.

I found some Candy Canes by Pure Fun at the supermarket that were corn free. They are not very peppermint tasting.. Is there a better option?

I got the corn-free peppermint sticks at Walmart (I wrote the name down somewhere else) but I haven't tasted them yet to find out how peppermint-y they are. What other kinds of candy are you looking for? I found lollipops on line for Halloween. I put maple sugar candy (the sugar people) in the kids' stockings at Christmas. If you have specifics, I can tell you if I've found anything else. I worry about a lot more than just corn so I may have come across things and not bought them....

I keep meaning to, but I haven't.

I have a friend with a corn allergy who said Hershey's kisses don't have corn. I've seen her eat them.
Funny, I was just contemplating rum balls today when I saw the truffle recipe in my cookbook. I used to make it with chocolate chips, sour cream, amaretto, and roll them in crushed almonds. I don't know what's in the Amaretto, but I know I can use rum... hee hee (obviously not for kids). Though you could probably do an extract for flavoring instead. But rum balls sounded good to me.

Are you only searching for corn free? I found a bunch of places that had corn-free candy/chocolate (I searched corn-free chocolate candy) but a lot of them had milk and other allergens in them, but if it's only corn you're avoiding then it seems like you should be able to find something. www.juniperfoods.com looked good (you could search by multiple allergens).
The other thing is, I've made sesame candy which turned out really good, and also candied almonds (I can't keep them in the house -- everyone keeps eating them -- very addictive). Not typical holiday candy but candy nonetheless.
I'm not nursing anyone. Rum balls sound good. My abx doesn't feel like it's working (millionth UTI) and I've felt like there's a knife in my kidney for the past two days. Now my temperature has started being normal (I'm usually 96.8 and today I've been 98.8 all day). Cut me some slack!! I made fruitcake instead of the rumballs, and it wasn't like I was picturing (picture the Claxton fruitcake). I should start posting pictures of my failures on my blog -- it would make people laugh at least.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

LOL! When you make your rumballs, I'll take the leftovers

Give me your addresses. I'll send you all some rum balls. Can those be sent in the mail -- I don't want to get in trouble with the PO again. I have to find a good deal on those Enjoy Life chocolate chips. Like a nice 10 lb. bag....

Where can I find maple sugar candy? Is it only available online?

Thanks,
Jenn

It depends where you are. Cracker Barrel restaurants always have them. The Vermont Country Store (online). I'm in New England so maybe I can just find them more easily. But there should be lots of online places that sell them.

My HFS ordered me a case of Enjoy Life Choc Chips. I think it was 12 bags worth. I got a 10% discount by buying in bulk, too.

While I was out today, I bought organic cocoa and some Barbados rum. I don't need no stinkin' chips (that way I can use palm sugar and DS can have them too -- the ones without the rum). I just don't feel like going all the way up to Whole Foods to find chocolate chips. I already spent $300 on groceries today. Ugh. That means I will NOT go next week, even with the holidays coming up.
I looooove Reed's ginger chews. They are GF/corn free (so I'm told via e-mail from the company).
mmmm I want rum balls......I can't have chocolate though, even the enjoy life kind!

I need to get on the search for these candy canes.....
