My pul covers are really holding onto the pee smell, even after one wash, yuck! I cannot stand that smell:
What else can I use or what do you wash them with? I know wool won't stink right away but I cannot stand compression wicking at all and I have yet to find a wool that doesn't do that (actually with the exception of my Appalachian Bebe, but ds was really little and I thought that was why). I did just switch to Bio-Kleen, maybe thats why... but the diapers smell so fresh and clean. I've never had this issue before. I'm curious though, do cotton covers like cotton Nikky or CotnWrap retain odor as much? And have you found a wool cover that really doesn't wick, I have very heavy wetters here!
I just got so frustrated trying to figure out why my room smelled so bad and not happy to discover it was my clean covers

Hmm, I have a Thirsties cover and haven't noticed any stink issues with it. If it's damp after a use it has a faint urine smell but that dissapears if I let it dry- it goes through about 6 pee dipes (alternated with other covers) before the pee smell sticks and it needs a wash.

Did the stink only begin once you changed detergents? What were you using before? Have you put it in the dryer at all? I'm thinking you might want to give it a wash with extra detergent, a really good rinse and throw in the dryer (fine occasionally for PUL, in fact seals any holes) and see if that helps.
