I went grocery shopping a day or two before I got my BFP and I came home with totally different stuff than what I usually buy. Including raisin bran, which I usually can't stand. And (veggie) ramen noodles...YUM. Today I am fantasizing about cottage cheese, which I never buy.

What sounds good to you ladies that you don't usually like? Or am I the only one?

Pickles. I would really like to eat some fried pickles, although I have NEVER had a pickle that I liked. A lot of the things I used to like now seem gross, which is kind of an odd turn, but that's ok, because it was mostly junk food anyway.

Not yet, but I am sure it's coming. I was really picky about food during the 1st tri. Nacho cheese and fried chicken was the most memorable.

Ever since someone mentioned crispy roasted kale in another thread, I can't stop thinking about it! I would want soy sauce on it. With DD, I wanted lime, Lime on everything. And tofurky sandwiches with vegenaise on potato bread, microwaved for 15 seconds. With DS, I don't think I had any craving. Hmmm. This kale thing is odd. I am also drinking seltzer like there's no tomorrow. Raspberry lime seltzer. I wonder if that is OK to have in large quantities? I know water is best but I just need the fizziness!

no strange cravings, though I didn't get strange ones with my previous pregnancies either. With my first pregnancy the only craving I remember is a really, really strong craving for salt and vinegar chips. With my second one I had to have vanilla soft serve in a dish ice cream every day for like 2 months. I'm sure that had nothing to do with my 80 lb weight gain! :)

This time nothing strange, nothing strong. Just cravings for foods I don't normally eat a lot of. White breads. Lots of bread. Aversions to foods I love. Kale, brussels sprouts. Um, veggies in general! That's definitely more my upset stomach than anything else though.

Mmmm...I love kale chips, but I have them with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I've been craving them recently, but that's nothing new for me.

My mom always used to say that carbonated beverages deplete calcium (which definitely wouldn't be a good thing in pregnancy), but I have no idea if that's true. Oddly, I've been really liking plain old water lately.

My old track coach said it depleted something, but I don't remember what. I don't know if that's so much carbonated in general or sodas? I've been drinking/craving ginger-ale in the morning - and I almost never drink any soda unless there's rum in it! :)

I know that soda can deplete potassium.

I second pickles (have gone through almost two jars in the last two weeks!) and cottage cheese...oh yum. Generally, I am interested in anything dairy, and anything salty. I think I am more in to meat than usual, and eggs are starting to sound very good. I have not had a problem with aversions yet, but I do think that I am less interested in sugar, unless it is in ice cream.

I want tomatoes, vinegar and salt. And meat, too. I'm also craving veggies and fruits much more than before. And for some odd reason, I can't stand even looking at potatoes and french fries. Bread is optional.

Peppermint ice cream! Thank goodness the holidays are near!

I am having more aversions than cravings right now, though it seems like carbs are the thing I am drawn to the most.

And, I have to say, I absolutely hate kale and kale chips! Every time I read something about them I just can't believe that people actually like them. I am a veggie hound - I love my greens, but for some reason kale has just never set well with me. I tried it several times this summer and fall because we got so much of it in our CSA, and no matter how I prepared it, I just didn't like it. Sauteed, baked, raw, in stew, etc... nothing. Its too bad because it is soooooo good for you! Bah!

meat, meat and more meat! its so strange!!! We dont really eat a lot of meat in our house but that seems to be all I want! I could have killed someone for chicken today but all of ours is frozen (we buy happy chickens - pasture raised from a local farm) but I couldnt take it so I went to KFC! I havent been there in years! Im not convinced that what I had was actually chicken, but it was good at the time and now I feel gross :(

I have been wanting a glass of milk... and I don't drink milk (I'm lactose intolerant). Seriously though, I would LOVE a nice tall glass of really cold milk!

I'm on a candida free diet (meat, veggies, beans, legumes only) right now, so I wish I could eat some of the things you are craving. Luckily, I'm not having any cravings or aversions, but I am HUN GRY!!
