I was wondering if there are any public or private schools or districts or even states that do

have - no homework policy.

We were just discussing with friends the many benefits of kids having time to

rest and play after school as opposed to repeat what they did at school

and what they should have learned at school, and conisering

endless hours they spend and school and.. as funny as it is, many times it is

parents who do the homework anyways..

Growing up, my (Montessori) elementary school didn't give any homework... But I don't know of any such schools in my area now. You might get more answers pertaining to schools in the Learning at School forum. This forum is mostly read by homeschoolers who might not know the homework policies of their local schools.

My son's elementary school had zero homework, and their middle school was as minimal as possible.

I'd suggest looking into the charter school system- there are some who's premise is no-homework. Ive heard of an elementary charter school in TX that assigns no homework but expects children to use the time to read a book of their choice each evening for 30min. There are also lots of Waldorf charter schools in CA who do not give homework in the elementary grades.
