Hi everyone,

I cross posted this on Mindful Home Management but haven't gotten any responses so I'm hoping that maybe someone here will have some ideas. I have a large (room sized) wool area rug in my older son's bedroom. I will probably pull it out but want to get it cleaned up if possible. Our son is tube fed and has spilled formula several times on the rug on nights his tube has come disconnected. Any ideas on how to clean the rug, esp. without harsh chemicals if possible since we have lots of allergies and asthma/reactive airway disease in the family?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Most any wool wash should do! You might want to spot clean just in case at first, but I'm thinking of the ones like the ones used for wool diaper covers, so they didn't discolor the covers, so I"d think they'd be ok for carpets too-eucalan, kookabura, the wahm mama who made all the WOW! soaps had nice bar soap wool washes, there are actually tons of wahms now who make wool wash soaps (check out hyenacart.com and go to shopping instead of chatting). HTH!

We have a Bissell Little Green Machine that works wonderfully for our area rug. Maybe you could put wool wash into a carpet cleaning machine. I have found that reflux and gtube leaks have acid in them and sometimes stain or bleach the color out of rugs and textiles.

What kind of tube does he have? There is a handy little device called the AMT clamp that really works well to keep the tubing together. Also, make sure he has a straight port, not a y-port end to his tubing if you have it hooked up for a long period of time. The straight ports stay on way better than the yports. You just have to call home health and see if they can order them. Most button, I think, have the right angle straight ports available now, not just the kind that stick sraight out of the tummy. You can order the AMT clamps yourself if they are not covered. They last a long time. I lost ours about a year ago and just use a long strip of duct tape wrapped around and around the tubing connections.

I start from the top of the "christmas tree" part of the pump tubing, around and around and around all they past the tip of the extension tube.
