I posted another thread (here) about my son cutting himself on a pair of pliers, so sorry if you're tired of seeing me worry about the same thing.

Basically, my 2 y/o son picked up a pair of pliers and cut himself under his nail. I want to make sure that it's clean, to prevent any infection (yes, it bled, but I'm worried that there is not enough oxygen under the nail to help prevent infection).

He's napping now, but it just occurred to me that I should be concerned about cleaning underneath the nail. Any suggestions?

I'll definitely be giving him some probiotics when he wakes up.

Maybe try to soak his finger in peoxide? I know that may be difficult and burn a little but I can't think of anything else

Oops, forgot to update this thread.

I ended up soaking it in salt-water for about twenty minutes, and then peroxide for about five. I tried to get to the cut under the nail, to put the peroxide on directly, but it was just too far down (which helped ease my worries about infection, actually, because it was so far from the dirt that had been on his fingers). I think the soaking probably helped get it in there though.

He didn't fight me or say that it stung (although, watching Ratatouille at the same time was helpful with that!
