Or however you spell it. I think I have it. I do go out of the house, to the next town over or in my town. But when it goes to going somewhere far off, say over 30 mins away, I completely panic and freak out. This started a year ago, when my son was very ill on a trip to England.(he was 3). He had never been carsick before, but screamed with a stomach pain for about 5 mins on the plane, and slept for 8 hours, then was fine when we landed at the airport. He ate only chocolate in a total of 17 hours. Then, in the car after about 20 mins, he started puking everywhere non stop for 4 hours and then he was fine when we finally got to our destination. Then he got the flu flu a week into our trip and ran a temp of 104 for 6 days, then we came home. I am now terrified to take my son anywhere. ITs not ME that is afraid to go off, its just ME taking my son off anywhere. My hubby mentioned he wants us to go back to england in june 2009, a year from now, and I am already panicing about it. His mom is dying, we really need to go, and he is very homesick. I want to get over this terrible feeling of doom if I go anywhere with my son. It is hurting HIM as well, as he is not getting to do anything fun because I am worried about him being carsick, worried about him being sick at the trip destination, etc. HELP!

I totally get it! I've been there, and it's scary. What has helped me is having an emergency medical kit on hand (homepathic and mainstream) so that if someone gets suddenly ill, I can handle it.

Also, knowing that it is not common to get ill without warning helps. Usually, there are at least subtle clues if a child is on their way to getting sick. In your case, it sounds like the first incident was probably motion sickness and stress, and the flu probably also came on due to stress.

To prevent this, I would make sure that everyone had some vitamin c and elderberry syrup before and during the trip, and there was plenty of downtime so regroup and rest.
