Ok, so that's kind of an exaggeration. We have hot water from the kitchen faucet. But we only have about 5 seconds of really hot water from the washing machine. This house we just bought has a tankless heater and doesn't produce hot water at the same rate that the washer takes from it. It's something we have to live with until we have a lot of money to build an addition for a new boiler and hot water heater. I know, more info than you needed. I just wanted to clarify that before I get suggestions on how to fix the boiler to get hotter water. We've had a few people look at it and it's just old and needs replacing. On to my question...

What diapers can I wash in lukewarm water? because that's the only kind of water that is filling my washing machine. It just doesn't seem sanitary to me to wash in anything but hot water. So far, I've been boiling water on the stove to fill the washer and evening out the temp with water from the machine (so I don't ruin snaps or anything). But that is WAY too time consuming. I don't have time to go to a laundromat every other day. Please tell me I don't have to go to sposies. I am selling all my fireflies (anyone interested?

) since I can't get the hemp clean enough. But I'm thinking of switching to all Fuzzibunz (with microfleece stuffers). Would this be a better system with just warm water? Help me please!

I'm wondering the same thing. I've been washing on cold water

: because that's all my machine will spit out right now and drying on very high heat. I really don't want to switch to sposies, but I guess if that's what I have to do, then that's what I have to do. So, is it alright that I'm washing on cold if I'm drying on high heat or do I need to use sposies till we get the hot water line fixed? Didn't mean to highjack your thread or anything.

you can just wash in cold or lukewarm. Every month or two if you notice stink or are going to sell, take them to a laundry mat or friends house. cold or lukewarm will be fine in my experience. HTH!

I was told on here that I HAD to have hot water because of germs. This is not true? The reason I'm asking is because my daughter has bad skin allergies and we're going through different reasons why and some one mentioned that I have to wash them in HOT water. Here's the thread: Diaper Help
Soooo, it doesn't matter? Or, it doesn't matter as long as I dry them on high heat?
OP; again, so sorry for high jacking the thread.

Kathryn, No problem! I'm glad we can get eachother help. And it's good to know I'm not the only one out there.

MissSugarKane, I boiled water from the stove into the washer today and it is a HUGE pain. It's do-able, but not desirable. I like what a PP mentioned... washing with whatever you've got and once a month or so, washing at a laundromat or friends house. That's a good idea. If it means that I have to boil water to get them clean, then I guess that just means I need more diapers to keep us going another few days between washes, right?

That's a great idea!

I wonder why I don't use my brain sometimes. I was filling the bath tub up (we get the hottest water there, it's really freakin hot) and lugging pitchers of water into the washer. It would take about 25-30 trips back and forth out of the kitchen, around the corner, down the hallway, and into the bathroom.

I'm just a goof. I'll have to bring our garden hose inside tomorrow.
