Is Aldi a good choice for vegetarian families? Are there enough staples there for the non-meat-eating family? Thanks!

They have most of the staples that an ordinary supermarket would have, but only one brand of each. If you eat a lot of specialty vegetarian foods and meat substitutes, you might have trouble finding those. Common vegetarian staples such as beans and rice are no problem of course. Some Aldi stores have better produce sections than others, but there is no way to know whether the one at your local Aldi is good except by taking a look.

I don't know about other Aldi's, but our local one doesn't have a big selection of things like beans/rice. We do find a lot of other bargains there (love their fruits & veggies) but still have to go to another store for the rest of the stuff we buy.

Produce-wise, it's a hit or miss, you may have to check other stores, but I never had any problems eating exclusively at Aldi's when I was a vegetarian. We still do eat a lot of meatless meals, and I love Aldi's. They've gotten a lot better with specialty items in the last few years, with more gourmet and organic things.

I couldn't shop exclusively at Aldi, but it's definitely a major part of my shopping rotation. Our fruits and veggies are great, and the prices rock. Cheese is also cheap, and milk.
