My son Uzi is 10.5 months and lately I have a really hard time putting him to sleep.
He gets more and more grouchy and clingy as the day goes on, and he's clearly tired, but he won't sleep for me. All my old tricks (nursing in bed, nursing in the ergo, going for a walk in the ergo, walking in the stroller) aren't cutting it. A few times, when I've been desperate, I've driving him around in the car to get him to sleep, but I never wanted to be that kind of mother, and it isn't a sustainable solution that I'm willing to make a daily routine.
The main problem seems to be that when we're together, he wants to go places and play and see things and do things, even though he's exhausted.
On the other hand, if my husband puts him on his back in the Ergo, he conks right out in minutes.
Part of this, I think, is that my husband has done sort of a modified CIO with him--when he was smaller, my husband simply couldn't get him to sleep without a bit of crying, and it didn't break his heart as it did mine to hear the baby cry for a few minutes before he settled. Now he goes to sleep for my husband without crying, but he won't sleep for me at all.
What do I do?
