I have been ordering from Melaleuca for 3 1/2 years or so and I think I want to quit now. My only dilema is how to replace the sol-u-mel. Anyone have any ideas? In case anyone is wondering, I am just not thrilled with this secrect ingredient baloney. I am just supposed to trust that they are safe and natural? I don't feel like trusting them anymore.

sol-u-mel can't be that bad, i've accidentally taken a swig of it before with no ill affects (except the horrible aftertaste. I had some full strength in a cup getting tar off the vinyl floor and drank the wrong cup :LOL)

BUT - citra-solv works pretty well on our toddler's stains, as well as for general cleaning. so does bac-out (biokleen)

You can also check out http://www.greenhome.com/products/ - for most cleaning supplies and laundry stuff et c, they also give you the MSDS sheets. (btw, caldrea countertop cleanser works awesome too, but its even more expensive than melaleuca stuff!)

I know exactly what you mean about the secret ingredient stuff. I've tried not to let it bother me but it just does. And I feel confident that melaleuca stuff is safer than stuff that i used to get at wal-mart, but I bet its not as safe as the stuff I can make at home. I still order but I'm trying despretely to find a way to make most of the stuff I use myself--but jeez, I wish my stuff worked as well

Sorry, I'm not much help...I'm a tough and tender/melapower addict

Sol-U-Mel is just a light soap solution with Tea Tree Oil added. Seriously, that's all it is. You can replace it by taking a couple drops of Dr Bronners liquid soap or similar and adding a couple drops of tea tree oil (available all over the place, even at Walmart!), then filling the spray bottle. Same stuff.

BTW, I do participate in Melaleuca, I have nothing against them. I use a bunch of their products where I'm just not willing to mix my own or whatnot.

I shouldn't use such definitive language

You're right, there is alcohol in there. What I should have said was the soap and TTO are all you need to get the same effect.
