Anyone else have low progesterone and have to use p. cream to maintain your pregnancy?

I had a positive preganancy test on Sunday (day 11po) but then yesterday (day 14 post ovulation) started miscarrying. I went in last night for a blood draw and my HCG and progesterone were both at non-pregnant levels (my progesterone was a 1 and apparently for the first day of my cycle it should be at a 7).

So, my ND recommend I use progesterone cream starting from the day of my temp spike this next cycle.

Did anyone else have low progesterone and get pregnant/stay pregnant using the cream? And if so, how long did you have to keep using it before you knew you were in the clear?

i started prog the day i got my bfp because i had a m/c in april and was afraid it was due to low prog as i didn't really have any strong symptoms, etc.. i wasn't diagnosed though at the time, but because of the m/c and my age i wanted to be safe. today i found out my prog is 35.1 and just fine, but i still have to keep taking the prometrium until about 11 weeks when i can taper off...so if you start it, you need to continue it until the placenta takes over at around 10 or 11 weeks...

Not sure what this is worth, but my SIL had to use progesterone for her first 12 weeks but it was in pill form, not cream. I'm guessing cream might be better but I dunno.

Progesterone troche user here and yes, it worked. I didn't need it this pregnancy though, thankfully, as my levels were great.

But first pregnancy they were low and I took the troches (gel-like melts under the tongue application -- tastes like ass, but worked) until around 10 or 11 weeks as I recall.

I would definitely go with a vaginal suppository as the preferred method though -- it's very effective. The troche would be next (though I'm telling you, progesterone tastes AWFUL), and cream last (the pills are not very effective either, usually). I would not rely on the cream alone for maintaining healthy levels. I'd ask your midwife about getting a different delivery system/version.

Good luck, mama!!!

i didnt start using progesterone till 8 weeks and i only used it till 18 weeks so i think i was in a different situation that you are, but if i were you i'd take it every cycle after ovulation just to be safe. i used cream at first then switched to pills. after i had the baby i had my levels tested and they were normal so i'm not using it this time

I'm also not sure why you're using the cream. If you have proven low progesterone, I'd be asking for injections. If it's marginally low or possibly low, then I'd do the progesterone suppositories. (The 50mg progesterone ones are the ones I do twice a day. It's natural progesterone, not synthetic). This is my 4th time around on progesteorne suppositories. I lost one of those but stayed on prog for 11 weeks one time, 12 weeks another, and likely just 10.5 weeks this time according to my RE. At 10 weeks, it's likely safe to go off of it. But some drs like you to stay on it just in case until 13 weeks. (The progesterone suppositories come in different forms. Both my RE and OB prefer that I do the natural progesterone one, not the crin-something or prometrium). I've had five losses.

I had a couple miscarriages prior to my DD then was diagnosed with low progesterone when I was pregnant with her.

I used Prometrium as a vaginal suppository. I really believe it saved my pregnancy with her.

I'm on suppositories again this time.

I tested low progesterone before my pregnancy with DD, so I did progesterone cream starting 3 days after my temp spike and tapering off starting at 12 weeks. I don't know if it was really necessary or not, but it was worthwhile for me to do it. I'd probably do it again if I try for another.
