Hi everyone,
We co slept with our first baby and he still sleeps with us most of the time (he's about to turn 3). He will sleep in his own bed in his own room but calls for me several times a night, so usually I just have him sleep with us. He used to have a mattress at the foot of our bed that was where he'd start out the night then he'd join us but we moved recently and that's no longer the set up.
In any case, I am expecting in early July and my son was early so I am anticipating even sooner. I am trying to figure out where to put our newborn down to sleep -- the bed is too crowded as is, plus I was always half awake having a newborn in bed before and I don't think I got enough rest, but I want him in our room, right next to the bed. I thought about a co-sleeper, but then I heard that the little mattress is so hard some babies don't like it. I've heard good things about some bassinets but babies outgrow them so quickly. Then I heard about the Amby bed, a sort of a little hammock cradle that you can use till your baby is about 9 months old, and I like the sound of it -- but it's very expensive and you can't return it if your baby doesn't like it.
Has anyone out there faced a similar situation and have a suggestion? We do have a crib (aka the clothes hamper) in our bedroom, and evantually I'll give it a shot with the new baby when he's a little older, to see if he takes to it -- my older one never did. But I am just wondering, what might be one of the best choices for the new babe?
Thanks in advance!
Maura
