Breast Pain?

I am a BFAR mama. I have LS. I have a cracked nipple. I am not nursing on it, I am pumping until it heals.

I have terrible breast pain. SHarp and/or stinging in ducts up to nipple and back. My breast are not hot, red, hard or swollen. Using APNO on the crack.

Is it the cracked nipple causing pain inside? Do I have an infection? Is it painful refilling and let down? I had a C last time around so I was hopped up on meds and didn't feel much pain. Perhaps that's just the way my breast feels ?!?

I want to solve this ASAP so I can stop pumping and start nursing on both sides again. I had to stop nursing my DS at 4 months because of this very problem last time. Well it started all the problems - pumping bottles etc. It irreparably damaged the relationship.

I'm not sure what some of your acronyms stand for so I just wanted to send you some hugs. cracked nips hurt. I kept nursing when my nipple was cracked but I cheated a little and used a breast shield. It helped with the nipple pain but probably restricted milk flow. Maybe you could do that first then pump second? I hope you heal!

I think I just need to get some antibiotics and see if it goes away. I haven't used an antibiotic in over 10 years so I think I can do it this one time :)
I have already called the doc. They said to call if it gets worse. I'll call tomorrow.
