A stretchy wrap is fabulous for preemies. You can do skin to skin care but still be covered up, and baby can be upright against your chest (much better than lying down/cradle position). It's also very easy to wash/dry in hot water for cleanliness purposes. And it's one size fits all, so both parents can do kangaroo care.

Avoid the Ultimate Baby Wrap, but other than that, good brands are Moby, Cuddly Wrap, and Hug a Bub.

 

I had a 35 weeker and i started with a ring sling but the baby seemed to get lost! I quickly moved to a moby wrap and it was awesome. ds would be one my chest for hours and i could be hands free as needed. my dh used a fleece pouch with ds as a newborn and it worked well.
