I just picked up a bottle of the Baby mild castile soap and I started washing DD with it in the bath when she started to get really upset and noticed her skin was getting a bit pink. I took her out of the bath and noticed that she was covered in hives everywhere the soap touched her body and I think she was in pain when it touched her.

Is this because it was too concentrated for her and I need to dilute it? Could she be allergic to one of the ingredients? I tried googling and it seems everyone loves it and uses it in place of other cleansers that cause hives. I am now nervous to use it at all. DH has a family history of allergies and DD gets hives when cinnamon touches her skin.

I would try diluting it A LOT and spot testing it on the inside of her arm. If she doesn't have a reaction it's probably just because you used it full strength- Bronner's is very concentrated and really needs to be diluted.

yeah, REALLY dilute it. For a hand soap foamer, I use only 1/4 bronners, and the rest water and it foams like crazy. The homemade body wash recipe I use is:
Shampoos
1/4 cup distilled water
1/4 cup liquid Castile Soap - I use unscented, but you can choose your favorite
1/2 teaspoon jojoba, grapeseed, or other light vegetable oil

so even for adult use it's diluted 50/50 with water.
