My good friend has 2 intact little boys. Her oldest had some sort of issue (not 100% sure what) and had to go to a urilogist (he's 3...this was fairly recently) and the uriologist said they would have to circ and she said no there is nothing wrong you're not circ'ing. Anyway, he RETRACTED the skin. HARD. Her DS jumped and started screaming. They were sent on their way and went home and he refused to pee because he said it hurt him. They had to hold him on the pot force him to pee or else they let him walk around naked and he would still run around saying it hurt to pee.

Eventually it got better but he still has moments where he says "owie" when he pees.

She doesn't know anyone thats intact and the drs are pushing circ. I told her I'd ask on here for help.

Thanks!!

Give him baths with no soap, make 100% sure that he is never retracted again in any shape or form by anyone. Let it heal on its own and watch for obvious signs of infection.

If they went to a urologist for non retractable foreskin then there was no need since the foreskin can take till the teen years to release.

As he gets older there may be times when he has a little pain when urinating due to the synachea releasing it leaves behind little raw spots that will usually heal within 24-48 hours as long as they are left alone. When he is old enough to understand he can pull back the tip of the foreskin just enough that the urine dosnt run back up under there and burn. Until then it is just one of those growing things. Unless more symptoms show up.

Poor baby! THat makes me SO sad.

My oldest was retracted at 15 mos before I realized what was happening. It was a new doc and my old practice was so pro-intact, I didn't even realize that people still circ'd! (Naive, I know, but they made it sound like intact was so normal, every baby was that way. Their corc rate was less than 10% in their practice. I had NO idea I needed to watch out at a new doctor's.)

My ds's penis partially readhered. His adhesions have been breaking up for the past year, and I think they may be all gone, but I haven't asked and he hasn't complained lately. Anyway, when his adhesions break, he still whines when he pees and tells me it burns for a while afterwards. I imagine it's a very similar thing. When ds has this happen, I help him rinse his penis off w/ water after he pees. He has started retracting when he pees every time, which may be why he hasn't had any problems lately. Anyway, my 3 year old is also able to retract himself, so maybe she could ask him to retract so she can rinse it off after he pees so the urine doesn't burn his raw skin.

If he can't, well, I guess frequent baths in plain water is the only way to get relief like Melissa suggested.

OK, that doctor needs to be reported. What he did was medical battery, no question. I would have the mama email John Geisheker who's the attorney for Dcotors Opposing Circumcision. Read the first post on this thread: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=129378

Seriously, she should file complaints all the way up the food chain. What this doctor did was just as inappropriate as ramming his finger inside a baby girl's vagina.

I hope the little guy is OK. Leave it alone is obviously the best course of action, and never ever set foot near that damn fool doctor again.

Also, you could PM Dave2ga (that doesn't look right) who is David Llewellen, a pro-intact attorney who has posted on this board in the past. He has sent legal letters to urologists such as the UA violation above warning them not to do this again.

Good luck to you and your friend and her son! I live in Iowa, too, so I know how ignorant the doctors are around here.

Thanks! She's been just leaving it be. Mainly because he will not let anyone near his penis anymore, he freaks out when she has to wash his inner thighs and stomach in the tub tells her not to touch his pee-pee. Poor baby.

The dr told her to use Vasaline, I think she might have done that for a while.

I'll see if she wants to file a complaint.

Have you considered reporting the doc so it does not happen to other little boys?

Yep, just leave it alone. Make sure she isnt doing the vaseline anymore...honestly, it is better for it to readheare. It will keep bacteria and stuff out and help prevent any further infections (which of course would fuel the stupid doctors wanting to circ, grrrrr!). Can you tell me which state she lives in? I have a (granted short) list of foreskin friendly doctors, I might have one or two in her state that I could refer her to. In any case, she definately needs to find some new doctors! If there arnt any on my list, a good bet is looking for a foreign doc-european, east indian, etc. Most (not all, but most) of these doctors know how to care for a foreskin since its the norm in their home countries and they are probably intact themselves. Tell her to look for a doctor with an accent
