High School Math curriculum - CLE

Hello,

Has anyone here used Christian Light Education Math all the way through Highschool?

I have used it from early years with my son, who is now 16. We started with Math on the level, but found it a lot of prep work for the parent (I was working full time too, while my husband taught) - so we switched to CLE in around 3rd grade due to it's simplicity to teach.

My son did well with it, and we are just completing Algebra 1. The set we got was their "Preliminary edition" and I see on their website now that they have made this into a nicer textbook.

My question is if anyone has used CLE through Geometry, Algebra 2, and Trigonomery and Functions for High School? Does this provide a good foundation for taking a GED test?

I can't seem to find many reviews online of their high school Math, and most parents seem to use CLE for the lower grades, but switch them to something else for high school.

I am reluctant to switch if this will be a good program to the end!

I may get the Life of Fred books just as a supplement and use the CLE for the review and practice.

Thoughts?

I've heard good things about Life of Fred! My only concern with switching to this completely is that the reviews say it is great for students who are self-motivated, as the program is best done by the student only and not 'taught' by the parent. Also - the fact that it does not have many practice examples. My son is not too self-motivated, and prefers my presence when he does his lessons.

That said - I will be purchasing the LOF Geometry book, they are relatively inexpensive! Who knows, my son may love it!

Christian Lght is also inexpensive (under $50 for the whole year), which is why I was thinking of getting both. I'm just wondering if that is a good idea...or would be overkill? :)

Have you done Life of Fred in the higher grades?
