I never get asked...the only thing they ask is what do *I* want done to my hair.

 

I don't think it is the same thing they say to everyone--but I think if your eyes are a light or grayish blue the contrast with the light strands may look really pretty--and that is why they say it.

As I remember you have light brown hair--and highlights can be very subtle (so you would not be a blond!) and they would just give your hair more dimention and pick up the color of your eyes.

I think your hair looks beautiful just the way it is, too! Sometimes hairdressers just make suggestions because they have an artist's eye and think a certain effect will look "cool", but that does not mean they think your hair looks bad how it is.

I have naturally dirty blond hair that I have highlighted with lots of light highlights, and I love it because it makes my skin and eyes look brighter (and it makes my hair behave better--the highlighting gives it a better texture) but I have never had any hairdresser suggest it to me. But maybe that is because I always ask for it before they get the chance!

I voted no. I already get highlights every time I go to a "real" salon though. :LOL Before I started getting them done, I'd get all kinds of advice about what I should do. Then one day I went to someone I knew, and said "You're the pro, do whatever you want." I

I am never told that I should get them, just when I want them re-done.lol When I go I am always asked what I would like to do, every other appointment they get a look of panic when I say I'm sick of it do something different. I usually go for something bold and funkier. I have dark, almost black hair and commonly have light blonde chunks through it. I tried going red with them in Jan but it didn't last long. I have pics from a month ago and those ones were a orange strawberry blonde.
