Hi I wanna be a Hyena too for a little while. I'm expecting and want some new diapers for her/him. So I could use information on how to be a good hyena too! LOL What are the Hyena sites now?

You know, nobody might help us cause if they do tell us the details, then they would have more competition!!!

You're right. It seems odd that no one is interested in bragging about HOW they did it, we only hear about when they've scored. I just think it's all so interesting-the whole fluff thing. My DH's friend was like "what are they embroidered or something?" (when he was telling them about the high prices and such fervor involved in accquiring diapers) and my DH was like
"yeah they are!" It's such a secret world. I read a interesting story about it on Salon.com

I'm not sure I could even spend the kind of money it takes to be a hyena.
I'm really just living vicariously through their exploits.

 

I 'think' the basics are this ... you track down all the sites you're interested in ... join ALL the yahoo groups/ mail lists and set them so you get individual emails ... and then you visit those sites every chance you get keeping your eyes peeled for new stock and email updates.

Then you also scour ebay and the TP for all the 'names' you're looking for and don't forget hyena cart while you're at it!

 

LOL!!! There is still no response! I think the hyena thing is both amazing and funny. I really just want a couple because I really do like the way some of them look. A few really do look so perfect and make me drool! LOL I doubt I'll get any cause I don't have much time to spend on the computer but I'm willing to try for a little while just for fun. So... who is going to help us have some fun? huh? huh? huh? It's funny that I am so clueless. I have always been and will always be. It seems like so many people have their eye on so many stores and know so many facts and details.. I look at everyone's stores too but then I forget the next day what I saw, read, heard, etc... I guess I have too many other things to worry about or something. Anyway, yes I am going to try to be a hyena for the next few months and grab one or two hyena level dipes.

I've checked, but it seems to me the stores are never stocked and then the auctions are WAY TOO high. I guess I don't have the stomach for it.

 

I am not the original owner of ANY of my hyena items. All but one I scored here on the trading post or diaper pin's FSOT, and I don't have ALOT of any one hyena item either - mostly I just wanted to see what the hype was about.

I'm mystified about the whole hyena thing myself. I do want to say that the quality of hyena items is VERY high and I haven't been dissapointed with any of my items.

 

I think it's just being in the right place at the right time. Plain old luck mostly. I honestly have no idea what is really considered hyena. If you asked me which ones they are I only know of Elbee and Fluffymail. What are the other hyena dipes?

 

Those two are the ones that stand out in my head too! LOL And all I want is one of each of them and I'll be happy... they look really nice!

That's exactly how I scored my MM/BB set

 

If there is one you really want to try, you could post an ISO on the TP, keep bumping it up and eventually someone will take pity on you and sell you one of their old ones. You probably won't get a bargain, but it will be fair and you get to try it out and become really addicted.

saharamama and lisas have both summed it up. There, to my knowledge, is no real trick. It takes diligence, timing and luck - nothing more.

Join the groups, watch the sites - hunt, hunt, hunt.

It would be easy to say that it all boils down to how bad you want it. But really you gotta be in the right place at the right time. You can refresh a few times, leave a site and seconds later the items you want be stocked. In the same respect you can remember to refresh a site and see a whole site full of goodies or one or two lone dipes and away you go hitting the BUY, BUY, BUY button.

For a lot of mamas this is a hobby. So instead of spending their time doing clay modeling, etc. they are stalking a dipe or two or three or four or five or six...... :LOL

For me - LUXE Baby and Fussybutt are pretty much my ALWAYS hunting for dipes. Lately I have jumped on the El Bee train again and would like to have a few for DS to try. Yes, I try to snag the occasional FCB and am on the EeziGear list (along with everyone else!

). I have managed to snag our first MM at the random stocking - and it was very much RANDOM, just happened to be there when it happened.

I'm new to the boards, and I just stumbled on this thread. I assume the term hyena is used to identify a (over)zealous CD mama?

 

It takes diligence and luck and timing and patience and sometimes lots and lots of money.

It also helps to be really nice to your favourite WAHMs because sometimes they will hook you up. They all rock mostly.

I will not tell my son to sit still if I am stalking something. But I do WAH and if there is something coming up I really want I may arrange the day around it if I can. We are on an entirely different time zone though so most of my stocking it at night for me which is when I am working anyway.

Sometimes I like to play a game and see how many things I can get one one brand :LOL I am not having much luck with BBB and FCB AIOs though.
