So yesterday one of my ds' starts vomiting.. and doesn't really stop. So by the time I get home from work he has tossed his cookies about 20 times. I take him to the ER cause I am worried...

Anyway, for the heck of it I check my own temp before I go.. 99.7 hmmm.. ends up the doc thinks ds AND I have the flu. Ok. I am 6 weeks pregnant. How the heck was I supposed to know I was SICK and not just m/s? hmmm?

No way to know when the flu may have started.. so no tamiflu for me.. egads. HOme for two days and I may or may not actually be sick. Oh well.

So sorry you are under the weather! Did the doc not test you and your son for flu? They can do a basic flu test (nasal swab), which would test for seasonal and h1n1. Although it does not differentiate between the two types, treatment is essentially the same for both.
I have seen a lot of people with the flu (I work in a school nurse's office) and none of them have had the vomitting that you describe. You guys might just have a stomach virus and not actual flu.
I hope you guys have a speedy recovery! Being sick and pregnant and having a LO to care for is not fun!

I asked about testing at the hosp when I checked in.. they said some docs are doing it but most aren't any more because h1n1 is so prevalent in my area, and half of the people that have it are testing negative until it is run a second time.. so apparently some issues with testing are keeping the docs from running them regularly or something.

I know lots of people here who have had a really nasty stomach bug.

Totally wiped them out for a couple of days. While influenza can have pukiness to it, it is not very common.

I also heard from the health dept that the quickie test for influenza (type A & B) has missed some later found to be H1N1 flu. I guess that is just the difference between the quick & cheap and what the labs actual can do with a culture.

I hope you feel better soon.
