Has anyone ever used NAET for allergies or for anything else? I read an article about it in Natural Jewish Parenting. I'm thinking of trying it for my DD's eczema, and I'm wondering what it's like.

Julie,
I have to admit, I am biased because I practice NAET. However, I will tell you what it is like if you find a qualified practitioner.

Most likely, the eczema (and most skin problems) is related to allergies starting in the digestive system. The doctor may go through a computerized system to find the most allergic items, or they may not. They also may recommend that you read "Say Goodbye to Illness" to get more information and background before you start treatment. The first 6 treatments consist of treating for the building blocks of the immune system (vitamins c, b, calcium, protein, sugar). At that point, the body of your child should be strong enough to "hold" more "advanced" treatments, such as desensitizing the nervous system to the eczema itself.

Most of the testing is done with muscle response testing and the treatment itself will most likely be administered through a surrogate (probably yourself). The treatment will consist of some simple spinal manipulations and breathing techniques. It's quite painless and lasts a total of about 30 minutes or less. After the treatment, you have to avoid the substance treated for 25 hours to detox the body.
