Help. I have some wonderful friends in need of a midwife in White City, KS or surrounding area. They have a really sad story. They are both quite young and this is their first child. Baby's due date is 5/30/07. They are currently in California his mom, whom they were living with was supposed to be the midwife and has kicked them out. They really have no where else to go, so they are going to Kansas where her family lives. Mama is very upset at the thought that she will have to deliver in a hospital. She wants to deliver at home but afraid she won't be able to find a midwife that will take her this late in her pregnancy. They will be in Kansas next week.

If anyone knows of a midwife that will help her or any info for that area that I can pass along to them, it would really be appreciated. Thank you

She's in Topeka, but travels up to 160 miles, so she should do White City as well.
Kirsten is great...I actually started out this pregnancy planning a homebirth with her! Unfortunately (as of January anyway) she lost her backup physician and isn't doing homebirths anymore. Last I knew she was working at a birth center in KC.

I can't believe how hard it can be to find a midwife to do a homebirth in Kansas. Where I live in northern mendocino county, they are everywhere. I guess that it is more common in "Hippie" (forgive the expression, I will classify my self there) areas.
