I am having one of those days where I feel like everything I thought I knew is wrong, and my head is spinning about what to do next.

I need some motivating stories about progress (even if you're not at baseline)

I will share something good too, since I need to look at the positives.

Two nights ago my 6 month old slept for 4 hours straight!...and he didn't want to get out of bed until 7 am (he went to bed 8 pm) So with only 3 -4 night nursing sessions, I actually woke up before him ready to start the day!

Last night was actually a good sleeping night too (by good sleeping I mean he doesn't cry out in his sleep and he doesn't want to get up for the day at some weird hour)

Thank you for sharing!

We have had lots of success here as well. Lily slept 7 hrs in a row for 2 nights.

Both Luke and Lily have had language explosion since doing gf/cf. Lily was already cf but taking that little bit out of her diet and Lukes has made a big difference. I would think it was merely coincidence if it was just one of them, but both are prattling of new words every day. Luke's drawing is actually starting to resemble something- rather than scribbles. He has finally been able to identify some colors as well. Since starting the Feingold his behavior has been 200x better! Oh, and no more watery diarrhea, no more vomitting at night!

Lots of positives here. My dd went from having watery green poop with food chunks in it, weepy, full body eczema, dark under eye circles and the beginning of respiratory reactions. After eliminating her triggers, it ALL went away. She's outgrown her reactions to several fruits, vegetables, and coconut. It's likely that she's outgrown her dairy allergy, though she remains intolerant with too much exposure (poop problems, not eczema reactions). We're waiting to reintroduce corn and soy for another year at least (when she's 4).

Ds (6 mths) was reacting to something, I didn't know. His poop was mucusy, he had a spot of eczema on his arm and he spit up. I was already free of most of the big allergens so I suspected it was wheat and/or eggs because those were the the only "biggies" I was still eating. I cut them out and now his symptoms have gone away. We also identified that he was reacting to beans and lentils, so I nixed those, too. Normal poop, soft skin, no puking, happy, sleeping, non-gassy baby.

Positive!

Have you watched the movie "The Secret"? I swear, I was feeling pretty darned down in the dumps last week... depressed about all our circumstances. And then I got the movie on Netflix and things were unbelievably better within two hours... and they've been getting better every day since!

Positive!

Yesterday at the natural food store in the city, I actually found some packaged cookies that are safe for us! Kinnickinnick, animal crackers for the little girl, and oreos for me! And we got exposed to corn, garlic and wheat at the restaurant and NO REACTION!

Positive!

I broke down and weighed/measured the child today to sate my unbridled curiosity and she gained 1/2 a pound! And we went to the pedi-dentist yesterday... I REALLY liked him, he's SO awesome with kids and just maybe he'll be able to save dd's teeth!

Positive!

And my husband who has been gone for 6 weeks made it home today, just in time to rescue us- as the heater in our showerhouse broke and we have single digit temperatures!

Think positive!

I got a phone call from DS1's school today asking if they could give him the snack they intended to provide for his class tomorrow. The answer was no BUT

POSITIVE: It's something for which I can easily provide an allergy free alternative.

I'm so glad they phoned me.

Wow, congrats on the sleep improvement! Getting more sleep is the most important sign for making progress with the allergy thing at our house!
Here's to positive: our DD2 (16 months, been miserable for 6 months, now gluten free for 4 months) is gaining weight now she's finally feeling well and eating: yesterday I noticed dimples are starting to form on her elbows!!!

AND: I baked these GF cookies yesterday, and they tasted incredible!!!
