Red Raspberry Leaf Tea and children... is it okay?

So I was enjoying my RRL tea last night, and my 2-year-old came up to me and asked for a sip. I gave her a sip from my spoon, and was surprised when she said, "I like it!" I tried to limit the little that I gave her.

My question for you all is, do you think it's okay for toddlers to drink a little RRL tea? Could it have any adverse effects for a 2-year-old?

I suppose I should also ask this question in the nutrition forum or the toddler forum.

Not based on any scientific research whatsoever, but I can't imagine what possible harm it would be....RRL is a tonic, thus (as I understand it) it merely restores/promotes balance in the body, rather than changing the body's natural balance, KWIM?

I can't imagine that a few sips, or even a child's portion (half cup or so) once a day could be harmful. I think it sounds like a fun way to interact with your child and include her in the pregnancy....have a daily tea party while waiting for the baby!

You could always dilute hers with water (or milk, if you want to be fancy!

) if it concerns you.

I seem to recall a legendary midwife in our area (she's passed now, but i have her book if I can lay my hands on it) recommending RRL tea for the whole family. This link gives some information, and suggests that it is fine, even beneficial, for children.

I just googled "Red Raspberry Leaf Children" and came up with several hits (including one for the thread you started in Nutrition, LOL!) that all say pretty much the same....fine for children, especially good for stomach problems. Hope this helps!
