I'm asking for advice how to pull this off.

Basically dd's original bday plans fell thru. Her bday is the 28th of June and her three best friends had to go out of town for different reasons. I was going to take six kids to a local amusement park for it. (Her idea) I had given her a party budget and so instead of having her party she used it responsibly replacing her cell phone and getting some school clothes which I had to do anyway.

BUT that didn't work out and dd cancelled it. She is very sad about it though. Saying she doesn't want a party but I think it's really more hurt feelings that her friends couldn't be here.

Can't do it July 4th weekend because same problem, everyone goes out of town or wants to spend time with their families.

The next weekend is my son's bday and sil's baby shower.

SO I was thinking of doing it the weekend of July 18th so her best friends can come.

I texted them and they said they would help me. Her bff had already made a party guest list and some plans with her.

I am not telling the other two kids.

Where I am struggling is where should I do it?

I was thinking either at a local park and having a cookout which would be boys and girls OR maybe getting a hotel room at a place like Coco Keys and having a sleepover with the same 5 or 6 girls. I don't know.

Having it here is not an option because our place is sooo cramped.

Anyhow, what do you think? How do you pull off a successful suprise bday party for a teenager? Do you think a teenager would mind? I think since I have her best friend's help it might actually work out. I don't know. She had a suprise party before at 12 and she loved that so I don't think she will mind.

i love the idea of something outdoors like the cookout you mentioned since it summer, but i suppose there still may be weather concern. is it pretty consistent/predictable where you are this time of year? what does your DD like to do? could you still just do the amusement park idea that was the original party? you could have just 1 of the friends invite her like it's a regular weekend activity and then have everyone else meet/surprise her there.

my mom gave me a surprise party for my14th bday and she pulled it off by having one of the folks i babysat for schedule me to come watch her kids for a fake wedding she was attending

to get me out of the house/keep me occupied while my friends gathered. could you do something like that if you're worried about being found out? it worked well in my case, w/ the only exception being that i was a little embarassed b/c i'd just thrown on some old sweats to go babysit and then SURPRISE!!! lol. but mom saw that coming and had packed an outfit for me when the party came.

good luck whatever you decide!
