Hi all. Well I have worn contacts in the past but they were never comfortable for me. My eyes always felt dry. Anyway, I have been hearing about acuvue oasys.. Has anyone used these? I am thinking of trying contacts again. I have always worn glasses but my kids are constantly hitting my glasses and they have just gotten extremely uncomfortable from being messed with all the time. I would like to wear contacts but I dont know if I can find any that are comfortable. Also I have a little bit of astigmatism so would I need to get contacts especially made for that? I appreciate any advice any of you have . Thanks!

They are good the Accuve Oasys but I am using Accuve 2 now they are cheaper $119 for 24 Pair. I use a more expensive Solution that "cleans them better". And I have no issues now except when my allergies are ramped.

FYI: You can get the whole exam and 1 Pair of contact for $70 @ Walmart without insurance. They will also give you samples of solutions to try.

i only started needing vision correction the last few yrs due to a job in front of a computer. i thought i would really want contacts, i went to walmart and tried pair after pair after pair. i went back every two weeks to try another type. finally, they gave me oasys for astigmatism to try. couldnt do it. i literally ripped them out at my desk, and then squinted my way to walmart and started trying on frames LOL

Yes; def. try them!acuvue 2 are also not bad at all. I would say that, regardless, not wearing them for too long is key ( I mean more than 8 to 10 hours max.) because you can damage your eyes. I've been wearing contacts for 18 years and had issues as a teen due to wearing them for longer hours ( and at times sleeping in them, stupid me!). They feel comfortable, but your eyes still need a rest to 'breathe' and balance the pressure.

It really just depends on your eyes. As your eyecare provider for samples of brands you find interesting.

Oasys made my eyes itch and I ended up with a rash and swelling. I tend to have rather nasty reactions to some polymers, it seems.

I figured out my dry eye problem, though. I was having ongoing allergic reactions to edetate disodium in the thimerosal-free saline solutions. I knew I was sensitive to it, but never noticed my brand of saline changing formulations several years ago.

Now I use preservative-free saline and my eyes are fine with Acuvue 2.

I wore contacts for a couple of decades before giving them up for glasses full time. I chose to do so b/c my prescription is so high and lenses only corrected my vision up to a certain point. I used to be able to tolerate the difference for the sake of vanity, but now I'd rather see the best I can all the time. It's good for me to confront my insecurities around wearing glasses too so I don't mind

Anyhow, back on topic! I cannot recommend a particular brand at the moment, however I'd just suggest you make sure they are disposables and you use Clear Care solution to clean them over night. CC has peroxide and really eats off the protein deposits making them more comfortable for longer.

Good luck - I hope you find something that works for you.
