I know it is low progesterone, but I guess I want to know what causes a woman to have low progesterone. I can't find that anywhere. I know nursing can play a part, but are there any other reasons (i.e. diet, fibroid, menopause, etc)?

Your thyroid can affect this too I think?? I think someone here told me that? And some say B6 can help.
Anyway, I have a short LP-7-10 days and my progesterone and prolactin levels are normal so we have no idea what's going on since I've had normal cycles for 20 yrs

My DD weaned at 2yrs in Sept so we are assuming that maybe that was it and just hoping this month is it

Sometimes, I think our bodies are just doing it's own thing and not letting us in on the secret-which of course, drives us mad!
Good luck

All the hormones in your menstrual cycle are in a sort of dance, levels of one hormone cause another to be released, so basically your whole endocrine system is constantly talking to itself with different hormones. So what goes off the beam first isn't always clear.

That's one of the benefits of using treatments like vitex that are hormone balancers, because that puts your hole system back in harmony instead of just boosting what's missing and not knowing what the consequences will be.

Nutritional deficiencies, stress, and other health problems can affect your hormone balance, even night time light exposure can throw you off.
