We get a lot of hand me downs and have gotten several felted sweaters that way. Can they be salvaged in anyway? It would be so cool if it could still be used somehow.

Why, diaper covers, of course! depending on the length, you could make longies out of the legs -- or shorts. Just put some soft waistband elastic in them & they shouldn't irritate baby's skin at all.

You could also patch a bunch together and have the mother of all wetmats for the bed. I have some REALLY felted wool that ds can pee on when naked it won't get the bed wet. Great for sleeping nekkid when his bum's a bit red.

Check my thread on recycling old sweaters into mittens http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?p=4244333 or look at my most recent blog at www.xanga.com/knitsteel to see how I recycled some felted wool sweaters.
You can also recycle them into hats, bags, and hot pads. Use a buttonhole or blanket stitch for edging and seaming, or a zigzag stitch if you'd prefer to do it by hand.

Or mail them to me! I'll use them, or my students will. I buy old 100% wool sweaters at thrift stores to recycle.
